Our aims and Resources

The Pixieland policy is to offer children a secure and caring environment with maximum opportunity for the development of the whole child. It is also recognises that as well as any physical needs the most important aspects of a child’s development are fostered in appropriate play situations.

Pixieland Nurseries are purpose equipped to provide areas for specific use. A wet area for sand and water play, quiet areas for jigsaws, books, games and activities for the intellectual developing child, imaginative areas for role play eg home corner, puppet area, dolls house etc and rumpus area for climbing equipment and other exciting activities.
All equipment is of the highest standard and appropriate to the ages of the child.

The week before your child is due to start, all parents/carers are invited (free of charge) into the Nurseries for regular visits. This helps everyone get to know each other and hopefully by the child’s first day at Nursery, they are quite happy to be left and the parent/carer leaves with the knowledge that they are safe. You will meet your child’s key person who will be your first contact. The key person will establish and record your child’s routine.

Pixieland Day Nurseries are dedicated to the welfare and education of young children in their care.

Settling in

Security

All of our nurseries have security cameras and CCTV for the extra safety of your child.
At the Stoke and Mannamead nurseries, we have a fingerprint recognition system, which
monitors all visitors, staff and parents for the ultimate security. At the Saltash nursery,
each parent has a pin number to gain entry into the nursery.

Planning, Assessment and Educational Observations

The daily routine and play programmes ensure that the children can enjoy a purposeful,
planned but informal range of activities from the very young baby to the pre school child,
taking into account their different needs. Our planning is based on the Early Years
Foundation Stage.

Weekly Observations are carried out on all children in conjunction with parents. These will show your child’s development and progress – ie Personal, Social and Emotional, Communication, Language and Literacy,
Physical Development, etc.
